Provides uninterrupted capacity upgrades to
existing RAID configurations. This unique system allows a disk to be added while the
system is still in operation. The new disk will automatically become part of the total
array. The benefits of this feature are many. Until now, if an array was to be upgraded,
the following procedure was required:
• Backup to tape
• Install the new drive
• Re-format the array
• Restore the information from tape.
Depending on the size of the array, this procedure could result in a full day of downtime.
The Dynamic Upgrade feature does not require a high level of expertise to perform. This
allows service or upgrades to be performed on remote networks where service expertise is
not always available. |
